According to mainstream Vietnamese media reports, the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has stated that Vietnam is about to sign a protocol with China on plant quarantine requirements for avocado and passion fruit exports to China. At present, 13 kinds of Vietnamese fruits and agricultural products, such as pitaya, watermelon, banana, litchi, longan, rambutan, jackfruit, mango, durian, mangosteen, passion fruit, jelly grass, sweet potato, have been approved for export to China, but only mango, jelly grass, durian, banana, sweet potato and watermelon have been exported by signing the protocol. As early as July 11, 2022, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam and the General Administration of Customs of China signed a protocol on the quarantine requirements for Vietnamese durians imported to China, officially allowing Vietnamese durians to enter China. This provides Chinese consumers with the possibility of eating more high-quality durians with diverse varieties.

It is understood that Vietnam and China reached a partial agreement in 2022 on the export of Vietnamese passion fruit to China. The General Administration of Customs of China allows the pilot import of fresh Vietnamese passion fruit through seven ports in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, including Friendship Pass, Puzhai, Pingxiang Railway Station, Pingxiang, Dongxing, Longbang, and Shuikou. According to a report from the Plant Protection Bureau of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam, the planting area of passion fruit in 46 provinces and cities in Vietnam currently reaches 9500 hectares, with an average annual yield of 300000 to 400000 tons, concentrated in the northern mountainous areas and the Xiyuan region.

Previously, Vietnamese avocado could only be exported in small quantities to China through border trade, but after the agreement is signed, the export volume through regular trade channels is expected to increase significantly. In recent years, the planting area of avocado in Vietnam has also increased significantly, mainly in Lintong, Dele, Denong, Jialai, and Kunsong provinces, covering an area of approximately 8000 hectares. In early 2022, Vietnamese avocado began to be approved for export to Australia. The avocado planting area in Duonong Province reaches 2600 hectares, with a yield of 10-15 tons per hectare.

Vietnam is the hometown of several types of avocados, each with its own unique characteristics. Some famous Vietnamese avocados include the following varieties: 034 avocado is a unique variety in Vietnam, with a slender pear shaped appearance, a thin and glossy green skin with creamy white spots, and a single fruit weight ranging from 400 to 700 grams. Nanlong avocado, produced in Tongnai Province and harvested from April to August, has a smooth and glossy outer skin, slightly sweet flesh, and large seeds. Dake avocado has a thin and slightly hard skin, a dark green outer skin, and a light yellow flesh. It is soft like butter and has a strong creamy flavor. Trinh Muoi avocado has a thin and smooth skin with light white stripes, thick and soft flesh, and a unique aroma. Tu Quy avocado is widely planted in the central highland provinces, with elongated fruits resembling pears that gradually become thinner at the stem, each weighing 500-1000 grams.
