According to news from Zespri's official website, this season will see over 3 million boxes (approximately 10,800 tons) of Zespri RubyRed kiwifruit on the market. New Zealand will begin harvesting RubyRed in the coming weeks. At that time, the amount of RubyRed exported to mainland China will significantly increase, reaching over 1 million boxes, or 3,500 tons. This season, RubyRed will also be exported to the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, and Pacific island countries.

Zespri's Global CEO Jason Te Brake stated that the production of Zespri RubyRed has doubled compared to the previous season, which is great news for consumers who love RubyRed. With the harvest season approaching, Zespri RubyRed will soon be available, allowing consumers to enjoy its delicious taste.

Zespri RubyRed is a new variety launched through a kiwifruit breeding program developed in collaboration with New Zealand's Plant & Food Research. 2025 will mark its fourth year of commercial production. The uniqueness of Zespri RubyRed lies in its greater seasonality compared to green and SunGold kiwifruit. It is one of the earliest varieties to hit the market each season in New Zealand, with a relatively short shelf life of about eight weeks.

According to Peruvian media reports, Peru's export of Hass avocados to China in 2024 will increase by 40% compared to 2023, reaching a historical high of 50,000 tons. This figure far exceeds that of other major exporting countries such as Chile, Kenya, and New Zealand.

Peru has gained a significant advantage in market competition due to its ability to produce year-round and favorable climatic conditions. In 2024, Peru will export a total of 539,000 tons of Hass avocados, with total export value reaching 1.129 billion USD. In terms of production, the Lima, La Libertad, and Ica regions have high output, accounting for a large portion of avocados exported to China. Lima contributes 30% of Peru's national output, mainly due to its suitable climate and advanced agricultural technology; La Libertad has well-developed irrigation infrastructure and outstanding production capacity; Ica has fertile soil and ideal planting conditions, which will continue to drive export growth in the future.

From a market perspective, Peruvian avocados supplement the reduced production from Mexico. Moreover, the Hass avocados produced in Peru meet stringent export standards. Over the past five years, China's avocado import volume has increased by 112%, indicating huge market potential, which has also boosted Peru's avocado exports to China.
