Chilean cherry production growth
Every year during the cherry season, China imports a large amount of cherries from Chile. Chilean cherries are popular among Chinese consumers due to their variety, sweet and sour taste, and supply period during the Chinese New Year.
According to the US Department of Agriculture (USDA)'s recent "Chilean Stone Fruit Annual Report", the planting area of Chilean cherries in the 2022/23 season reached 61599 hectares, and the production of Chilean cherries in the 2023/24 season is expected to reach 500000 tons, an increase of 6.6% compared to the 2022/23 season. The export of cherries in the new season will reach 444000 tons, an increase of 7.2%. This is undoubtedly good news for Chinese consumers.
There are many varieties of Chilean cherries, with varying maturities, providing a guarantee for a longer supply period. Common Chilean cherry varieties include Santina, Lapins, Regina, Bing, Sweetheart, Rainier, Royal Dawn, Skeena, and Kordia.
According to data from the Chilean Ministry of Agriculture, the cherry planting area in the Maule region is 27818 hectares, accounting for 45.2% of the total planting area, making it the largest production area in Chile. The O'Higgins region in the central region has a planting area of 22966 hectares, accounting for 37.3% of the total planting area. The Maule and Oshkins regions have sufficient irrigation water, with sufficient low temperature periods in winter and frost free spring, providing ideal conditions for cherry growth.

China and South Africa sign an agreement to export avocado to China, adding another main force to African avocado exports!
Avocado, also known as avocado, is loved by young people due to its high oil content, strong satiety, and rich content of vitamin A, vitamin E, vitamin C, and vitamin B. Mexico, Chile, and Peru have always been the main sources of avocado imports in China. According to the 2022 China Fresh avocado Report by the US Department of Agriculture, China's demand for high-quality fresh avocado continues to grow, and China's avocado production and import volume are expected to continue to increase.
The South African avocado production season can last from February to mid January of the following year, almost all year round. With the increasing familiarity and health awareness of Chinese consumers with avocado, the consumption demand for avocado is constantly increasing. On August 22nd, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, on behalf of Agriculture Minister Tang Renjian, signed an agreement with South African Minister of Agriculture, Land Reform, and Rural Development Thoko Didiza on the export of avocado from South Africa to China. South African avocado has been approved for export to China, providing more sources for China to import high-quality avocado.
