A new season of cherries has begun in Chile

Recently, at the invitation of the Association of Chilean Fruit Exporters (ASOEX), Chinese Ambassador to Chile Niu Qingbao visited Romeral, R. de Maule in the region of Chimaulai to participate in the second Cherry Blossom Festival and inspect the local cherry orchard. The new Chilean cherry season of 2022/2023 has officially opened.

Chile is the world's largest cherry exporter with 41.6 percent of the global market, most of which will go to China. Chile exported 356,348 tons of cherries in the 2021/22 season, of which 313,237 tons were shipped to China, according to data released by ASOEX. As an important market for Chilean cherry exports, the Association of Chilean Fruit Exporters attaches great importance to the development of the export market in the new season, especially the logistics chain and virus prevention. Chile's cherry exports to China are expected to reach nearly $3 billion this season due to good rainfall and good weather.

Chile cherries are rich in varieties, with early and late varieties coming to market at different peaks. Common varieties include Santina, Royal Dawn, Bing, Lapins, Skeena and so on. The supply period can last from December to February each year. This time coincides with the Chinese New Year, consumer demand is strong, for the cherry sales provide a good time.

Golden autumn sugar orange on the market

Golden Autumn Sugared ORANGE is a fine variety selected by crossing Ehime 30 as the mother and SUGared orange as the father. It is mature in mid-to-late October every year, earlier than ordinary sugared orange. It is very similar in shape to the sugar orange, which is golden brown when ripe, and different from the orange orange of the sugar orange, the two are relatively easy to distinguish from each other in color.

Golden Autumn Sugared orange is an early-maturing variety with sweet taste. It comes to market about 45 days earlier than ordinary sugared orange, which is in a relatively empty period at this time, bringing it a huge advantage, with a higher purchase price and strong market competitiveness. It is based on this advantage that in recent years, the planting area of golden autumn sugared orange has been continuously expanded, and it has been planted in many places such as Sichuan, Chongqing, Guangxi and Yunnan, with an area of more than 300,000 mu.
